Cinnamon Candy Apples

Makes 12 red cinnamon candy covered apples. Super easy and perfect for a spicier twist on candy apples for Halloween.

1 2/3 Cups “Red Hots” or Cinnamon flavored candies (the little red ones)
2 TBSP water
Dozen apples

Prepare a cookie sheet by lining it with wax paper. Insert a craft stick into each apple. Line a baking sheet with waxed paper.

In a heavy saucepan, melt the candies with water over medium high heat. Heat candy to 300 to 310 degrees F, checking temperature with a candy thermometer. If you don’t have a candy thermometer, heat until a tiny amount of the syrup forms brittle, hard threads when dropped into cold water. Once the candy reaches this stage, immediately remove from heat to allow to cool a bit. Then dip each apple into the syrup and allow to coat well. Place the apples onto the wax papered cookie sheets to firm up.
