Apples are a great versatile fruit which can be used to make fantastic tasting recipes at any time of year. Halloween though is where apples tend to be used the most and can be used for games, decorating and of course making things. There are some great traditional games that are played every Halloween and you can help your kids to enjoy Halloween by teaching them what to do with apples. Whether it is by cooking them, decorating with them or playing fantastic games you and your family are bound to have an amazing Halloween.
Bobbing for apples has been a traditional Halloween game for centuries and is so simple to do but causes so much fun. Although it doesn’t take very long to set this game up it can keep your children amused for hours. Simply fill a big tub with water and then place the apples in the water, whilst your children have their arms behind their backs they need to attempt to grab an apple with their teeth.
Sounds far easier than it actually is and your children will love the challenge of trying to grab their apples. You can also hang apples from a tree on pieces of string and ask the children to pick them with their mouths. This is a fun game that they will enjoy as it can be quite frustrating for all of them as no hands are allowed. You can always think of other new games and ideas with apples and once the imagination begins you can create some great ideas.
Decorations are very important when planning your Halloween party as you will want the house and surrounding area to look as spooky as possible. Pumpkins and apples are a great cheap way to make the area look great. You can hang the apples from strings from varying heights and then cover with spooky cobwebs and spiders. You can also carve the centers out and make miniature jack o lanterns to place around your home. These will look great alongside the larger pumpkins and will make your whole house look spooky and ready for Halloween.
Apple recipes and treats are ideal for Halloween as the apples are cheaper and easy to find, you and your children can prepare the food in advance and then have more time to have fun. Caramel apples are very popular around Halloween and are very simple to make. Place the apple on a stick and melt some caramel in a saucepan and then dip the apple in. You can then roll the apple in some sweets or chocolate pieces to give your guests a sugary treat. Baked apples are also great and if you are having a barbeque then they can be cooked on there.
Halloween is a great time to bring all of your friends and family together it is a fantastic time to have fun and celebrate this popular holiday. With a very small budget and lots of imagination you can create a fantastic looking party that everyone will enjoy. You will be surprised how easy planning a Halloween party is and you will want to do it next year too.
